Does making a plaster cast of your thumb, or looking at dental plaque under a microscope sound like fun? You bet! These were some of the hands-on activities featured at the recent Family Science Day in Rochester.

Designed to engage the interest and curiosity of preschoolers and their siblings in science, participants took part in a wide variety of fun and educational activities.  Eastman Dental professionals were on hand to education the children about the interesting and fun side of oral health.

The EIOH volunteer team included Doctors Ashley Blacktree, Jaimi Greenspoon, Lindsey Scheer, and Anthony Colaruotolo, social work representatives Elise Linke-Judge, Jennifer Kopicki, and Lenora A. Colaruotolo, along with photographer John Greenspoon.  In addition, Periodontic staff member Doris Meade, Research coordinator Mary Therese Billtucci and members of the EIOH Pediatric clinic helped to collect and organize materials for the event.

Family Science Day is sponsored by the Rochester Literacy Movement, the Rochester Preschool Parent Program, and the Rochester Public Library.
